Heartwarming stories from across the world
At SKF, we believe that sports have the power to transcend boundaries, foster connections, and create lasting memories. Our commitment to our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) extends beyond business operations - it reaches the hearts of young football players worldwide.
Gothia Cup is the world’s largest and the most international youth tournament. SKF is the proud main sponsor of this sport event since 2007. In addition, we organize our own Meet the World tournaments globally, providing children from multiple countries the opportunity to travel to Gothenburg on our behalf. This year we have had a great participation, 24 teams from 5 different continents are coming here to play!
Let us present some heartwarming stories from across the world.
In May, SKF Spain hosted Meet the World in Madrid. All together there were six G16 teams and one G14 playing, and to everyone’s surprise did the G14 team take the title! Despite of the outcome they all shared the happiness with the winning team. This really shows the respect and fellowship the sport brings.
In Latin America two tournaments were organized: one in Colombia for G17 teams, and another in for G13 in Costa Rica. This was the first opportunity for 13-year-old Costa Rican girls to participate. The tournament was a great success, over 100 players competed passionately for three consecutive days. Team Future Soccer from Colombia emerged as the team to represent Colombia in this international event, having progressed through the group stage undefeated.
This year we have 3 Special Olympics team coming here to play for the cup, one of them is RG Ticino from Italy.
The Meet the World tournament in Porte, near Turin in Italy, was a celebration of joy, fair play, and inclusion. Six Special Olympics teams competed, with RG Ticino emerging as the winner. Their journey to Gothenburg awaits and they are all very excited!
