Gothia Cup

Thanks for this year

Gothia Cup 2024 is over and the most important goal – another world-class tournament – was achieved thanks to all participants, crew members, partners and visitors.

We want to say a big thank you to each and every one of you who created lifelong memories with us.

It was a fantastic week in Gothenburg when 1 911 teams gathered to play football in the Gothia Cup. Along with the first matches, the week began in glorious sunshine at Nya Ullevi, where 48 890 people followed the packed opening ceremony on site. One of the highlights was Saga Ludvigsson, who performed the tournament's song Celebrate. It set the tone for a week celebrating what the Gothia Cup stands for; fair play, meetings between people and a sustainable future for all. Under the Celebrate banner, several concepts were launched that, among other things, reduced the tournament's climate footprint, created greater security on and around the pitches, and highlighted the strength of meetings between people from all over the world.

The changing weather, with a lot of rescheduling as a result, also showed the strength of the organization, where we were able to quickly adapt to the new conditions. Something that was also made possible by all the dedicated associations in the Gothenburg area, who put forward their plans and commitment and ensured that the tournament could be played without interruption. It would not have been possible without your flexibility, patience and understanding.

In the end, football was played on 142 pitches and more than 21 000 goals were scored. But even more important is that participants from 72 countries gathered, exchanged experiences, developed as people and took home new knowledge and memories.

None of it would have been possible without all the field hosts, cooks, referees, drivers – indeed all the crew members who give their all to guarantee the visitors a world-class stay.

So thank you! See you again in a year!
